Hi, I'm Melissa and I'm an Online Dyslexia Specialist.
A little about me: It wasn't my intention to become a teacher. After over a decade in corporate, a shifting economy sent me back to school.
I started out teaching as a Special Education teacher. I eventually moved into a classroom teacher role, but quickly learned the classroom wasn't my stage.
I prefer the one-on-one breakthroughs with a student. As such, I decided that reading intervention, specifically Dyslexia, was the area I wanted to support.
I have two kids of my own and saw first hand the initial effects of online teaching during COVID. I have since learned what works and what doesn't.
I highly recommend Ms. Allender for families seeking thoughtful and effective dyslexia support. I had the pleasure of working alongside her, and I consistently saw the care and intention she brings to every lesson. Ms. Allender designs her instruction with strong preparation and clear structure, which helps students feel comfortable and confident. What stands out most is how she tailors each lesson to meet the individual needs of the student. She takes the time to understand where each child is in their learning and builds from there, ensuring that lessons are neither overwhelming nor too easy, but just right to support steady progress.
I am happy to recommend Ms. Allender to families looking for structured and supportive dyslexia instruction.

I’ve known Melissa for many years, and one thing that has always stood out about her is her patience and genuine care for others. She has a natural ability to encourage people and help them believe in themselves, which I think is incredibly important when working with children who may struggle with confidence in reading. Her character, integrity, and dedication to helping others succeed make her someone families can trust to guide their children with compassion and consistency.

I had the opportunity to work alongside Melissa Allender in a school setting, and I can confidently say she is an incredibly dedicated and compassionate educator. She consistently demonstrated a deep commitment to supporting students who needed individualized instruction, meeting them with patience, structure, and genuine care.
What stood out most was her ability to create a learning environment where students felt safe, supported, and capable—allowing them to build confidence and make meaningful progress over time. She approaches her work with intention and consistency, ensuring that each student receives personalized support that truly meets their needs. I have no doubt that her work as a Certified Dyslexia Interventionist reflects these same qualities—providing structured, evidence-based support that leads to real growth and lasting results. Any family working with her can trust they are in capable and caring hands.
